How can I ensure that I not only receive credit for an order, but also that I become my customer’s Ambassador going forward?

Your customer will not be added automatically when a transaction is modified.  This is something they DO have to request.  When your customer reaches out to Forever Support, please also have them state that they would like to have you added as their Ambassador. As long as they do not already have an Ambassador, we would be happy to get you connected with this customer.
